Ethnic groups


The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (80.35%) learnt to speak in childhood, 19.44% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[2]

[de] Distrikt Calapuja

Der Distrikt Calapuja liegt in der Provinz Lampa in der Region Puno im Süden Perus. Der Distrikt wurde am 2. Mai 1854 gegründet. Er besitzt eine Fläche von 138 km². Beim Zensus 2017 wurden 1690 Einwohner gezählt. Im Jahr 1993 lag die Einwohnerzahl bei 1404, im Jahr 2007 bei 1494. Sitz der Distriktverwaltung ist die 3843 m hoch gelegene Ortschaft Calapuja mit 506 Einwohnern (Stand 2017). Calapuja befindet sich 16,5 km ostnordöstlich der Provinzhauptstadt Lampa.
