Ethnic groups
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (77.40%) learnt to speak in childhood, 22.22% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]

Der Distrikt Pucará liegt in der Provinz Lampa in der Region Puno im Süden Perus. Der Distrikt besitzt eine Fläche von 525 km². Beim Zensus 2017 wurden 5536 Einwohner gezählt. Im Jahr 1993 lag die Einwohnerzahl bei 6958, im Jahr 2007 bei 6060. Sitz der Distriktverwaltung ist die 3860 m hoch gelegene Ortschaft Pucará mit 1857 Einwohnern (Stand 2017).
