Ethnic groups
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (93.57%) learnt to speak in childhood, 5.85% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[2]

Der Distrikt Pusi liegt in der Provinz Huancané in der Region Puno in Südost-Peru. Der Distrikt besitzt eine Fläche von 198 km². Beim Zensus 2017 wurden 5311 Einwohner gezählt. Im Jahr 1993 betrug die Einwohnerzahl 6937, im Jahr 2007 6516. Sitz der Distriktverwaltung ist die 3835 m hoch gelegene Ortschaft Pusi mit 909 Einwohnern (Stand 2017). Pusi befindet sich 32 km südwestlich der Provinzhauptstadt Huancané. Das Nationalreservat Titicaca erstreckt sich über weite Teile des Distrikts.- [en] Pusi District
