History
The city of Acora and the lands that are now part of the district were once the seat of the Caciques Catacora. Acora District was created by Law on May 2, 1954, in Ramón Castilla term.
Geography
One of the highest elevations of the district is Qurini at 5,400 m (17,700 ft). Other mountains are listed below:[3]

Ethnic groups
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Aymara descent. Aymara is the language which the majority of the population (87.14%) learnt to speak in childhood, 12.32% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[4]

Der Distrikt Acora (alternative Schreibweise Distrikt Ácora) liegt in der Provinz Puno in der Region Puno in Süd-Peru. Der Distrikt wurde am 2. Mai 1854 gegründet. Der Distrikt Acora hat eine Fläche von 1941,09 km². Beim Zensus 2017 wurden 22.961 Einwohner gezählt.[1] Im Jahr 1993 lag die Einwohnerzahl bei 29.420, im Jahr 2007 bei 28.679.[1] Verwaltungssitz des Distriktes ist die 3867 m hoch gelegene Kleinstadt Acora mit 3295 Einwohnern (Stand 2017). Acora liegt 6 km vom Westufer des Titicacasees entfernt, knapp 30 km südöstlich der Provinz- und Regionshauptstadt Puno.
