The district has a population density of 596 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,540/sq mi) . Its population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 12.48%.Jammuhas a sex ratio of 871females for every 1000 males, and a literacy rate of 83.98%.[citation needed]

Der Distrikt Jammu (Urdu ضلع جموں) ist ein Distrikt im indischen Unionsterritorium Jammu und Kashmir.

По данным всеиндийской переписи 2001 года население округа составляло 1 588 772 человека. Большинство населения округа — индуисты, но они живут в гармонии с мусульманами и сикхами. Джамму известный религиозный центр, главный храм Маа Вайшно Деви расположен в 50 км от города Джамму. Есть также много других храмов, представляющих собой большую историческую ценность.
