History

Laodicea Pontica or Laodicea (Ancient Greek: Λαοδίκεια), also transliterated as Laodíceia and Laodíkeia, was a Hellenistic town in Pontus. The city was founded in the hills (elevation 1000 m) not far west of the lake Stiphane Limne, southwest of Amisus (modern Samsun). It is the birthplace of the Albanian grand vizier Tayyar Mehmed Pasha.

Ladik ist eine Stadtgemeinde (Belediye) im gleichnamigen Ilçe (Landkreis) der Provinz Samsun an der türkischen Schwarzmeerküste und gleichzeitig eine Gemeinde der 1993 geschaffenen Büyüksehir belediyesi Samsun (Großstadtgemeinde/Metropolprovinz). Seit der Gebietsreform 2013 ist die Gemeinde flächen- und einwohnermäßig identisch mit dem Landkreis.
