Upahuacho District is one of eight districts of the Parinacochas Province in Peru.[1]

Geography

One of the highest peaks of the district is Q'illu Urqu at 5,185 m (17,011 ft). Other mountains are listed below:[2]

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (90.78%) learnt to speak in childhood, 8.87% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]

Der Distrikt Upahuacho liegt in der Provinz Parinacochas in der Region Ayacucho in Südzentral-Peru. Der Distrikt wurde am 10. April 1961 gegründet. Er besitzt eine Fläche von 577 km². Beim Zensus 2017 wurden 1224 Einwohner gezählt. Im Jahr 1993 lag die Einwohnerzahl bei 788, im Jahr 2007 bei 1882. Sitz der Distriktverwaltung ist die 3319 m hoch gelegene Ortschaft Upahuacho mit 179 Einwohnern (Stand 2017). Upahuacho liegt 43 km ostnordöstlich der Provinzhauptstadt Coracora.
