Ethnic groups
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (55.66%) learnt to speak in childhood, 43.95% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[2]

Der Distrikt Sara Sara liegt in der Provinz Páucar del Sara Sara in der Region Ayacucho in Südzentral-Peru. Der Distrikt wurde am 2. Januar 1985 gegründet. Er besitzt eine Fläche von 85 km². Beim Zensus 2017 wurden 537 Einwohner gezählt. Im Jahr 1993 lag die Einwohnerzahl bei 836, im Jahr 2007 bei 800. Sitz der Distriktverwaltung ist die 3300 m hoch gelegene Ortschaft Quilcata mit 486 Einwohnern (Stand 2017). Quilcata liegt 12 km westnordwestlich der Provinzhauptstadt Pausa.- [en] Sara Sara District
