The municipality covers an area of 33.48 square kilometres (12.93 sq mi), and has a population of about 220.
Srní lies approximately 37 kilometres (23 mi) south of Klatovy, 74 km (46 mi) south of Plzeň, and 131 km (81 mi) south-west of Prague.
The village was probably founded in the early Middle Ages by Bavarian settlers.[2]
