The municipality covers an area of 36.87 square kilometres (14.24 sq mi) and had a population of 111 in January 2008.

Hamry lies approximately 22 kilometres (14 mi) south-west of Klatovy, 61 km (38 mi) south of Plzeň and 134 km (83 mi) south-west of Prague.
