The village is named in honour of Amédée E. Forget, the first Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.
As Forget is a French name, the village is pronounced more like 'For-jay' than the English word forget.

Forget incorporated as a village on November 21, 1904.[6]

In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Forget had a population of 35 living in 18 of its 22 total private dwellings, a change of -36.4% from its 2016 population of 55. With a land area of 1.37 km2 (0.53 sq mi), it had a population density of 25.5/km2 (66.2/sq mi) in 2021.[9]
In the 2016 Census of Population, the Village of Forget recorded a population of 55 living in 23 of its 24 total private dwellings, a 36.4% change from its 2011 population of 35. With a land area of 1.39 km2 (0.54 sq mi), it had a population density of 39.6/km2 (102.5/sq mi) in 2016.[10]
