A post office was established at Richfield in 1890, and remained in operation until being discontinued in 1998.[3] Richfield was named for the fertility of the surrounding farmland.[4]
Richfield is located at 41°6′39″N 96°4′35″W.[5]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.91 square kilometres (1.51 sq mi), all land.
As of the census of 2010,[6] there were 43 people living in the CDP. The population density was 10.99 inhabitants/ km2.
