Geschichte


Das County wurde am 6. Januar 1864 gegründet und nach den Bisonherden in der Gegend benannt.[2]

Zwei Orte im County haben den Status einer National Historic Landmark, die Crow Creek Site und die Fort Thompson Mounds.[3] Sechs Bauwerke und Stätten des Countys sind im National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eingetragen (Stand 30. Juli 2018).[4]

Buffalo County is a county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,948.[1] Its county seat is Gann Valley[2] which, at 14 people, is the least populous county seat in the United States. The county was created in 1864, and was organized in 1871[3] as part of the Dakota Territory.

На территории округа располагается один город — Форт-Томпсон.
