Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (72.88%) learnt to speak in childhood, 26.98% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[2]

Der Distrikt Pariahuanca liegt in der Provinz Carhuaz in der Region Ancash im zentralen Westen Perus. Der Distrikt wurde am 6. Oktober 1905 gegründet. Er hat eine Fläche von 11,9 km². Beim Zensus 2017 lebten 1447 Einwohner im Distrikt. Im Jahr 1993 betrug die Einwohnerzahl 1392, im Jahr 2007 1501. Verwaltungssitz ist die gleichnamige 2811 m hoch gelegene Ortschaft Pariahuanca mit 651 Einwohnern (Stand 2017).
