Tezpur (/tɛzˈpʊər/) is a city and urban agglomeration in Sonitpur district, Assam state, India. Tezpur is located on the banks of the river Brahmaputra, 175 kilometres (109 mi) northeast of Guwahati, and is the largest of the north bank cities with a population exceeding 100,000 as per Metropolitan Census 2011.[2]

Tezpur city (M.C) area have a population of 102,505 as per 2011 census. Assamese is Spoken by 40,837 people, Bengali at 18,696, Hindi at 11,050 and 31,920 people speak other languages.[17]
Tezpur is part of Tezpur (Lok Sabha constituency).[18] The current member of parliament from Tezpur constituency is Mr. Pallab Lochan Das.[19]
