History


In 1944, thirty German prisoners of war were massacred near the village of Audouville-la-Hubert by American paratroopers in an act of revenge after they suffered a high number of casualties during the Battle of Normandy.[3]

Audouville-la-Hubert ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 75 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Januar 2019) im Département Manche in der Region Normandie. Das Dorf liegt auf der Halbinsel Cotentin. Die Umgebung um Audouville-la-Hubert ist eben und wird landwirtschaftlich genutzt. Der Ort wurde 1944 Schauplatz eines Kriegsverbrechens, als alliierte Fallschirmjäger 30 gefangene deutsche Soldaten ermordeten.[1]
