Hogan Township was organized in 1852.[4][5]
According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 15.44 square miles (40.0 km2), of which 15.38 square miles (39.8 km2) (or 99.61%) is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 km2) (or 0.39%) is water.[3]
The township contains one cemetery, Carbaugh.
Hogan Township residents may obtain a library card at the Aurora Public Library in Aurora.[6]
