Storicamente, la località è legata indissolubilmente alla figura di Owain Glyndŵr, il nobile che si autoproclamò principe del Galles.[4][6][7]

Corwen si trova a metà strada tra Bala e Llangollen (rispettivamente a nord-est della prima e ad ovest della seconda)[5], a circa 20 km[8] a sud/sud-ovest di Ruthin e ad est del parco nazionale di Snowdonia[4][5].

Chiesa di San Mael e San Sulien
A Corwen si trova una chiesa che fu fondata nel corso del VI secolo dai santi bretoni Mael e Sulien.[4][6] La struttura attuale risale tuttavia all'epoca normanna.[4]
Tenuta Rugh
Altro luogo interessante di Corwen è la Tenuta Rugh/ Rûg.[6]
Annessa alla tenuta è Capel Rûg, una cappella costruita nel 1637 da William Salesbury.[4][6]

Corwen stands on the banks of the River Dee beneath the Berwyn mountains. The town is situated 10 miles (16 km) west of Llangollen and 13 miles (21 km) south of Ruthin. At the 2001 Census, Corwen (community and ward) had a population of 2,325,[1][2] decreasing slightly from the 2001 population of 2,398,[3] The community, with an area of 69.51 km2 (26.84 sq mi), includes Corwen and the surrounding villages of Carrog, Clawdd Poncen and Glyndyfrdwy.[1] The Office for National Statistics identifies Corwen Built-up area with a 2011 population of and an area of 0.25 km2 (0.097 sq mi).[4][5][6][fr] Corwen
