History

In antiquity, Tíjola was the Phoenician colony of Tagilit (Phoenician: 𐤕‬𐤂𐤋𐤕‬, TGLT, or 𐤕‬𐤂𐤋𐤉𐤕‬, TGLYT).[2]

Tíjola es una localidad y municipio español situado en la parte occidental de la comarca del Valle del Almanzora, en la provincia de Almería, comunidad autónoma de Andalucía. Limita con los municipios almerienses de Lúcar, Armuña de Almanzora, Bayarque y Serón, y con el municipio granadino de Cúllar. Por su término discurre el río Almanzora.
