On August 14, 2021, the weather measurement station of La Rambla (AEMET) recorded an air temperature of 47.6°C (117.7°F), setting a new national-wide record for temperature high in Spain.[2]

Su extensión superficial es de 137,8 km² y tiene una densidad de 54,98 hab/km². Se encuentra situado en la comarca de la Campiña Sur, a una altitud de 358 metros y a 41 kilómetros de la capital de provincia, Córdoba.
