It was an independent local entity within the municipality of Santaella, until 2018 when it was constituted as an independent municipality.[2]

La Guijarrosa es una localidad y municipio español de la provincia de Córdoba, en la comunidad autónoma de Andalucía. En 2019 contaba con 1399 habitantes según el INE.[1] Su extensión superficial es de 45,56 km² y tiene una densidad de 30,55 hab/km².
