Patalan is a barangay in the municipality of Paniqui, Tarlac. It was established as a barangay in the year 1850. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 3,247, representing 3.2% of the total population of Paniqui.[1]

The name "Patalan" came from the great river that passed through the barangay.
Patalan was established in the year 1850 and is one of the oldest settlements in Paniqui. The river that flows through Patalan was a highway between Manila, Pangasinan, and Ilocos Norte. Patalan was first settled by the Pangasinense as a village in 1770 and by the Ilocanos in 1840 and was established as a barrio in the year 1850.[2]

Patalan is an accessible barangay with paved roads leading to its barangay hall. It is approximately 147 km (91 mi) away from the country's capital, Manila. Buses, Jeepneys and other PUVs are available in the area. Large vehicles and other private vehicles are allowed to pass through the area.
The coordinates of Patalan are approximately 15.6443, 120.5716 (15° 39' North, 120° 34' East) in the island of Luzon. Average elevation in this area is estimated to be 25.0 meters (82.0 ft.) above sea level.

According to the 2015 census, the barangay of Patalan had a population of 2,835 further subdivided into 673 households (or 4.21 people per household). The age group with the highest population in the barangay is 15 to 19, representing 10% of the total population of Patalan. The age group with the lowest population in the barangay is 80 and above, representing only 1% of the total population of Patalan.[3]
