Cariño is one of 35 barangays in the municipality of Paniqui, Tarlac. It is situated along the MacArthur Highway (MNR). It is the 5th largest barangay in the municipality of Paniqui in terms of land area and population. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 5,196, representing 5% of the total population in Paniqui.[2] Approximately 90% of the area is farmland, and the remaining 10% is made up of establishments and grassland.

According to the 2015 census, the population of Cariño is 4,643, or approximately 1,202 households (an average of 3.86 people per household). The age group with the highest population in Cariño is 5 to 9, representing approximately 9% of the total population of Cariño. The age group with the lowest population in Cariño is 80 and above, representing approximately 1% of the total population of Cariño.

Transportation


Cariño is an accessible barangay situated along the MacArthur Highway. It is 143 km away from the country's capital, Manila. Buses, Jeepneys and other PUVs are available in the area. Large vehicles and other private vehicles are allowed to pass through the area. A railway system (specifically the Philippine National Railway (PNR)) also passes through this area but it is no longer functional.
