Nová Ves lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) south-east of České Budějovice and 130 km (81 mi) south of Prague.
The village of Hůrka is an administrative part of Nová Ves.
The first written mention of Nová Ves is from 1564. The village was probably established between 1557 and 1564.[2]
