È situata 80 km a sud di Mendoza, la capitale provinciale, e circa 100 km ad est del confine cileno. Ha una popolazione di circa 42.000 abitanti ed è capoluogo del dipartimento omonimo. Insieme con il dipartimento di Tupungato costituisce la regione di Valle de Uco, fra le più importanti per la produzione vinicola argentina di alta qualità.

Tunuyán ist eine Stadt im Westen der Provinz Mendoza, Argentinien, am Westufer des Tunuyán-Flusses, 80 km südlich der Provinzhauptstadt Mendoza und 100 km östlich der chilenischen Grenze. Sie hat 49.132 Einwohner und ist der Hauptort des Departements Tunuyán. Zusammen mit dem Departement Tupungato und dem Departement San Carlos bildet sie die Region „Valle de Uco“, die in der argentinischen Weinindustrie für ihre bedeutenden und modernen Weinberge und Weinkellereien bekannt ist. Tunuyán is a city in the west of the province of Mendoza, Argentina, located on the western shore of the Tunuyán River, 80 km (50 mi) south from the provincial capital Mendoza and 100 km (62 mi) east of the Chilean border. It has 49,132 inhabitants, and is the head town of the Tunuyán Department. Along with the Tupungato Department and the San Carlos Department it makes up the "Valle de Uco" region, which is famous in the Argentine wine industry for its important and modern vineyards and wineries. Investments since the millennium, attracted by the climate, soil, and altitude combination, have transformed the area, making it one of Argentina's most important regions when it comes to high-quality wine production and its associated connoisseur-driven enotourism.[es] Tunuyán
