Oakville is located just inside the southern border of Delaware County at 40°04′45″N 85°23′26″W.
Oakville was originally called Pleasant Hill, and under the latter name was established in 1873.[3] The Oakville post office opened in 1876.[4]
On April 1, 1884, an F5 tornado destroyed most of Oakville, killing eight people.[5]
This village was laid out on December 30, 1873, and called Pleasant Hill.
