As of the 2020 United States census, there were 1,387 people, 530 households, and 321 families residing in the city.


2000 census


As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 1,410 people, 625 households, and 388 families residing in the area. The population density was 595.4 people per square mile (229.7/km2). There were 732 housing units at an average density of 309.1 per square mile (119.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 64.11% White, 33.83% African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.50% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino people of any race were 0.57% of the population.

There were 625 households, out of which 24.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.7% were married couples living together, 14.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.8% were non-families. 36.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 19.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.92.

In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 21.4% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 22.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females, there were 84.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $22,986, and the median income for a family was $27,788. Males had a median income of $28,750 versus $16,667 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,845. About 24.4% of families and 28.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 41.3% of those under age 18 and 21.1% of those age 65 or over.


Local cultural events


The City of Naples hosts the annual Watermelon Festival on the last weekend of July.

The City of Naples is served by Pewitt Consolidated Independent School District.


Climate


The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Naples has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[10]
