Fishtail[3] is a small unincorporated community in Stillwater County, Montana, United States. It is located on the West Rosebud River. Well known locations include the Cowboy Bar, 406 Originals Custom Designs and Gift Shop, The Fishtail Grind coffee house, and the Fishtail General Store, founded in 1900. Annually, Fishtail Family Fun Day is held on the Saturday after Father's Day and includes a "Two-Mile Parade in a One-Block Town" along with pancake breakfast, Duck Race, a featured band in the Fishtail Family Park, numerous vendors and activities for kids and adults. Its post office was established on February 15, 1901 with Charles Sullivan as its first postmaster.[4] It has a zip code of 59028.[5][6]

The community of Fishtail was established in 1892.[7] It was platted in 1913.[7]

Fishtail was affected by the 2022 Montana floods when the Stillwater River flooded.[8]
