History and Residents

Danforth is home to at least three families, one of which is the Cowger family, a family noted in the region who occupy a sort of quasi-multigenerational landed gentry status. Gabe, an associate of the family, is known across the town and surrounding region for his used snowmobile business and tomato growing apprati.

In the fall of 2021, the Howell House of Bowdoin College visited the community and socialized with its inhabitants. The trip was not without injury. Despite peculiar conditions, all residents of the Howell House returned safely. Some were happy. The trip was documented in the formal record of the Howell House, though a Bowdoin Orientarticle was not written. The trip lives on in Danforthian lore.

In Fall 2022, much to the appreciation and admiration of the local inhabitants, the trip was discussed on No Things Considered, a talk show that aires on WBOR, at Bowdoin College. The coverage reignited interest in Danforth in the Howell House. The coverage was not without controversy, as some Danforthians opposed the widespread coverage of such an intimate event.
