A post office was established at Cincinnati in 1874, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1934.[3] According to tradition, the community was named when a visitor told the innkeeper that the surrounding hills and whiskey made him recall his home in Cincinnati, Ohio.[4]
Cincinnati is located at 39°01′12″N 86°43′44″W.
Cincinnati has a public library, a branch of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Bloomfield Public Library.[5] Eastern Greene High School is also located in Cincinnati, despite having a Bloomfield address.
One night, during the first year of its existence, a drunken cattle buyer at the inn jokingly remarked that the place reminded him of his hometown, Cincinnati, Ohio, on account of its high hills and abundance of good whiskey.
