Morenci grenzt an Clifton und liegt nahe der Grenze zum US-Bundesstaat New Mexico und zum Graham County.
Morenci liegt am U.S. Highway 191.
Wirtschaft
Der größte Arbeitgeber des Ortes ist die Freeport-McMoRan, Betreiber der Morenci-Mine, des größten Kupferbergwerks in Nordamerika und einer der größten Tagebaue der Welt. Die Morenci-Mine gehört seit über 15 Jahren zu den zehn größten Kupferminen weltweit (nach Fördermenge) und rückte 2020 auf Platz 3 der Rangliste auf, nur übertroffen von den chilenischen Kupferbergwerken Escondida und Collahuasi.[2]

Morenci is a census-designated place (CDP) and company town in Greenlee County, Arizona, United States, and was founded by the Detroit Copper Mining Company of Arizona. The population was 2000 at the 2000 census and 1,489 at the 2010 census.[2] The biggest employer in Morenci (and in nearby Clifton) and the owner of the town is Freeport-McMoRan, the owner of the Morenci Mine, the largest copper mining operation in North America, and one of the largest copper mines in the world.
