    Southend-on-Sea ist eine Stadt in der Grafschaft Essex in Großbritannien mit 182.773 Einwohnern (Stand 2018).[2] Das Seebad liegt am nördlichen Ufer der Themse-Mündung in die Nordsee und ist Industriezentrum mit Elektro- und Pharmaindustrie sowie kultureller Mittelpunkt der Region mit Theatern, Kinos, Museen und Galerien. Infolge der Ermordung des konservativen Politikers Sir David Amess im Oktober 2021 wurde jenem zu Ehren Southend-on-Sea der Stadtstatus verliehen.

    Southend-on-Sea (/ˌsaʊθɛndɒnˈsiː/ (listen)), commonly referred to as Southend (/saʊˈθɛnd/), is a coastal city and unitary authority area with borough status in southeastern Essex, England. It lies on the north side of the Thames Estuary, 40 miles (64 km) east of central London. It is bordered to the north by Rochford and to the west by Castle Point. It is home to the longest pleasure pier in the world, Southend Pier.[2] London Southend Airport is located north of the city centre.
