Der Bezirk wurde am 1. April 1974 gebildet und entstand aus der Fusion der Urban Districts Beeston and Stapleford und Eastwood und eines Teils des Rural District Basford.

Broxtowe is a local government district with borough status in Nottinghamshire, England, west of the City of Nottingham. The population of the district as taken at the 2011 Census was 109,487.[1] It is part of the Nottingham Urban Area. Broxtowe's neighbour to the west is the borough of Erewash, which is in Derbyshire.
