Starting Mid-April 2014 pro-Russian separatists captured several towns in Luhansk Oblast,[3][4] including Lutuhyne.[5] On 27 July 2014, Ukrainian forces claimed Ukrainian troops had entered the city.[6] Since 2015, Lutuhyne has been administered as a part of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic.[7]
