Al-Suwaydiyah (Arabic: السويدية; Kurdish: Suêdyê) is a town located in al-Malikiyah District, al-Hasakah Governorate in northeastern Syria. The region contains oil and gas fields, first discovered by the German company Concordia in 1959,[1] with proven reserves of 450 million tons at that time,[2] in addition to a thermal power station, commissioned in 1981–1989.[3]
