Marchena is a town in the Province of Seville in Andalusia, Spain. From ancient times to the present, Marchena has come under the rule of various powers. Marchena is a service center for its surrounding agricultural lands of olive orchards and fields of cereal crops. It is also a center for the processing of olives and other primary products. Marchena is a town of historic and cultural heritage. Attractions include the Church of San Juan Bautista within the Moorish town walls and the Arco de la Rosa (Arch of the Rose). The town is associated with the folkloric tradition of Flamenco. It is the birthplace of artists including Pepe Marchena and Melchor de Marchena, guitarist.[es] Marchena
Marchena es un municipio y ciudad española de la provincia de Sevilla, en Andalucía. En 2020 contaba con 19 329 habitantes, según el INE. Su extensión superficial es de 379 km² y tiene una densidad de 52,72 hab/km². Se encuentra situada a una altitud de 150 metros sobre el nivel del mar y a 64 kilómetros de la capital de provincia, Sevilla, en la comarca denominada La Campiña. Es conocida por su Semana Santa y, muy especialmente, por su importante conjunto monumental (declarada Conjunto Histórico-Artístico) donde destacan la iglesia de San Juan Bautista y el Arco de la Rosa (Puerta de Sevilla). Además, el municipio se caracteriza por su vínculo con el flamenco y por ser cuna de importantes artistas como Pepe Marchena o el guitarrista Melchor de Marchena.- [fr] Marchena
