Curral das Freiras (deutsch Nonnenstall, touristisch oft als Nonnental bezeichnet) ist eine Freguesia auf der portugiesischen Atlantikinsel Madeira im Concelho Câmara de Lobos.

Der 19 Kilometer von der Inselhauptstadt Funchal entfernte Ort liegt auf einer Höhe von 300 bis zu über 600 m ü. NN mit 2001 Einwohnern (Stand 30. Juni 2011) auf 25,0 km². Er liegt nordöstlich von Câmara de Lobos und lebt vor allem von der Landwirtschaft. Madeiras höchster Berg der Pico Ruivo liegt im Osten.

Der Ort ist über einen 2,4 km langen Tunnel erreichbar. Die alte Passstrasse ist für den Straßenverkehr wegen Steinschlaggefahr gesperrt.

Curral das Freiras war von der Überschwemmungskatastrophe im Februar 2010 besonders schwer betroffen.[3]

Curral das Freiras ("Pen of the Nuns") is a civil parish in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos in the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira. The population in 2011 was 2,001,[1] in an area of 25.03 km².[2] It is situated in the mountainous interior of the island. Being one of the more distant locations from the municipal seat of Câmara de Lobos, it is geographically isolated from other communities by the cliffs and peaks surrounding its central valley. A tunnel southwards in the direction of Funchal now offers safe access to the valley.
