Géographie
Stalowa Wola est arrosée par le San, un affluent de la Vistule. Elle se trouve à 58 km — 71 km par la route — au nord de Rzeszów et à 202 km — 245 km par la route — au sud-est de Varsovie.
Histoire
Stalowa Wola est une ville nouvelle fondée en 1937. Son nom signifie littéralement « Volonté d'Acier » en français. La création de cette ville s'inscrivit en effet dans le cadre d'un projet industriel du gouvernement polonais, le développement de l'industrie sidérurgique loin des frontières de l'Allemagne et de l'Union soviétique. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Stalowa Wola fut développée dans le cadre de l'économie planifiée socialiste et grâce à la mise en exploitation d'un gisement de soufre découvert aux environs de la ville.

Stalowa Wola ([staˈlɔva ˈvɔla]) is the largest city and capital of Stalowa Wola County with a population of 58,545 inhabitants, as of 31 December 2021.[1] It is located in southeastern Poland in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. The city lies in historic Lesser Poland, near the confluence of the Vistula and the San Rivers and covers an area of 82.5 km2 (31.9 sq mi).[2] Stalowa Wola is one of the youngest cities of Poland. It was built from scratch in the late 1930s in the forests surrounding village of Pławo. The city was designed to be a settlement for workers of Huta Stalowa Wola (known in 1938 to 1939 as Zakłady Poludniowe or Southern Works), a plant built as part of the Central Industrial Region.
