Jastrzębie Zdrój se trouve dans le sud du pays, près de la frontière avec la République tchèque.

La ville, qui regroupe 11 anciennes communes depuis 1963, constitue également un powiat (ville-district).

Histoire

Jastrzębie Zdrój fut une importante station thermale du XIX^e siècle au années 1960 (zdrój signifie source en polonais). Elle est ensuite dominée par l'industrie d'extraction du charbon.

Le 3 septembre 1980, peu de temps après l'accord de Gdańsk, est conclu l'accord de Jastrzębie-Zdrój (en) entre le gouvernement communiste et des mineurs grévistes qui obtiennent l'amélioration de leurs conditions de travail et de leurs salaires.

Sie liegt rund 100 km westlich von Krakau sowie etwa 30 km nordöstlich von Ostrava in unmittelbarer Nähe der tschechischen Grenze.

Jastrzębie-Zdrój ([jaˈstʂɛmbʲɛ ˈzdruj]; German: Bad Königsdorff-Jastrzemb, originally Jastrzemb, Czech: Lázně Jestřebí, Silesian: Jastrzymbie-Zdrōj or Jastrzymbje-Zdrůj) is a city in south Poland with 86,632 inhabitants (2021).[1] Its name comes from the Polish words jastrząb ("hawk") and zdrój ("spa" or "spring"). From 1861 until the 20th century, it was a spa village situated in Upper Silesia. It was granted city rights in 1963. Jastrzębie-Zdrój is currently situated in the Silesian Voivodeship (since 1999), previously in Katowice Voivodeship (1975–1998). In the early 1980s, the city was one of main centers of workers' protests, which resulted in creation of Solidarity (see: Jastrzebie-Zdroj 1980 strikes).

Jastrzębie-Zdrój), в немецкой историографии Бад Кёнигсдорфф-Ястржемб (нем. Bad Königsdorff-Jastrzemb) — город на правах повета в Польше, расположенный в Верхней Силезии, северной части Силезского воеводства. Один из центральных населённых пунктов Рыбницкой агломерации[en] и Рыбницкого угольного бассейна[en]. По состоянию на 31 декабря 2019 года в городе проживало 88 743 человека[2], площадь составляет 85,33 км².
