Geography

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (75.41%) learnt to speak in childhood, 23.66% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]

Der Distrikt Juan Espinoza Medrano liegt in der Provinz Antabamba in der Region Apurímac in Südzentral-Peru. Der Distrikt wurde am 12. Dezember 1942 gegründet. Benannt wurde er nach Juan de Espinoza Medrano (um 1629–1688), ein peruanischer Schriftsteller.
