Chongos Alto District is one of twenty-eight districts of the province Huancayo in Peru.[1] Is located in the Department of Junin, part of the Junín Region.

Geography

The Chunta mountain range traverses the district. Some of the highest peaks of the district are listed below:[2]

The largest lakes of the district are Aqchiqucha, Quylluqucha, Walsaqucha, Wich'iqucha, Yuraqqucha and Ñawinqucha[2] some of which belong to the largest lakes of Peru.

Der Distrikt Chongos Alto liegt in der Provinz Huancayo in der Region Junín in Zentral-Peru. Der Distrikt wurde am 11. November 1907 gegründet. Er besitzt eine Fläche von 702 km². Beim Zensus 2017 wurden 1549 Einwohner gezählt. Im Jahr 1993 lag die Einwohnerzahl bei 2274, im Jahr 2007 bei 1686. Sitz der Distriktverwaltung ist die 3544 m hoch gelegene Ortschaft Chongos Alto mit 699 Einwohnern (Stand 2017). Chongos Alto befindet sich 28 km südsüdwestlich der Provinz- und Regionshauptstadt Huancayo.

Limita por el norte con la Provincia de Chupaca y el Distrito de Chicche; por el este con el Distrito de Huasicancha y el distrito de Chacapampa; por el sur con el Departamento de Huancavelica; y, por el oeste con el Departamento de Lima.
