Hathian is a village and union council in Mardan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.[1] It is located at 34°23'35N 71°55'0E and has an altitude of 372m (1223 feet).[2]

Brief History:

Basically hathian means "Herd of Elephants".

so its named after a story of Mughal emperor who stayed this area while visiting Kabul. During his stay, people from the surrounding came to visit and see the elephants which the Mughal Emperor used for conveyance. After that historical event, people named it a place of elephants.

Buddhist remains are here at Haji Rahman Uddin Kalay, Safi Abad. The House of President Awami national party (Pk 27) Haji Abdul Halim Safi is also situated in Safi Abad. AND the President of Awami national party Hathian Union Council Haji ALI Rehman SAFI also belong to SAFI ABAD And Altaf Hussain son of Rahim Gul is also from this region.

Religious Personalities: Hafiz Abdur Rahman aka Hafiz Sahib, was a renowned Hafiz, Poet and Qari of Hathian Village, who served the people with his Quranic knowledge, and his intonation skill. There are innumerous hafiz students of him serving the people of the area in different regions, not limited to Hathian.
