Oredo is a Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria.[1] Its headquarter is in Benin City. Its capital city is Benin city which also is the capital city of Edo State[citation needed], Nigeria. Benin city also remain the capital city of the Benin Empire. The Oba of Benin, Omo N'Oba Ewuare II's palace is also located here and many historic palaces and buildings are located in this city.[2] There are four major markets in Oredo Local Government Area, which are Oba market, New Benin market, New market and Ekiosa market[citation needed].

Oredo is home to many, including the Oba of Benin, Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, Sir, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion The Esama Of Benin Kingdom, and other prominent princes and chiefs.[3]
It has an area of 249 km2 and a population of 374,671 at the 2006 census. The postal code of the area is 300.[4]
The Oredo marriage registry is located at Ring road in Benin City. The registry is used for the legal joining of couples.[5]
