Padhuis has a joint statistical listing with Vlieghuis,[1] but the postal authorities have placed it under Coevorden.[3] It was first mentioned in 1276 as "inter domos que dicuntur Venehus et Pathhus", and can either mean "house on a path" or "house near a swamp".[4] In 1840, it was home to 34 people. There are 5 oil wells in the hamlet.[5]
