Chūō-ku (jap. 中央区, dt. ‚Stadtbezirk Mitte‘) ist ein Stadtbezirk (ku) der japanischen Stadt Saitama.


Geschichte


Als eigenständige Stadt mit über 90.000 Einwohnern war Yono (与野市, -shi) bis 2001 der Verwaltungssitz der Präfektur Saitama auf Honshū, der Hauptinsel von Japan. Am 1. Mai 2001 wurde Yono als Stadt (Shi) aufgelöst und mit Urawa, Ōmiya und Iwatsuki zur neuen Präfekturhauptstadt Saitama zusammengelegt.

Chūō-ku (中央区, lit. "Central ward") is one of ten wards of the city of Saitama, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and is located in the northern part of the city. As of 1 March 2021[update], the ward had an estimated population of 102,364 and a population density of 12,000 persons per km2. Its total area is 8.39 square kilometres (3.24 sq mi).[1] Despite its name, it is not the administrative or the commercial centre of the city, roles which are designated to Urawa-ku and Ōmiya-ku respectively.

Тюо-ку (Сайтама) (яп. 中央区, Тю:о:-ку, англ. Chūō-ku, Saitama) «Центральный район» — это один из 10-и районов города Сайтамы, центра префектуры Сайтама. Город Сайтама входит в агломерацию Большого Токио. Несмотря на название - это не административный и не торговый район. Ими являются Урава-ку и Омия-ку соответственно.
