Si trova in una vasta pianura a sud dei monti Barez sulle rive del fiume Halil[2]; è molto calda d'estate: nell'agosto del 1933 raggiunse la temperatura record di 57 °C.

A est della città si trova il castello di Samooran, la cui struttura risale all'era pre-islamica[3].

Dschiroft (oder Jiroft, persisch جیرفت) ist eine Stadt in der iranischen Provinz Kerman. Sie liegt 230 km südlich der Stadt Kerman und 1375 km südlich von Teheran. Die Bevölkerungszahl beträgt 209.746. In früherer Zeit war auch der Name Sabzewaran gebräuchlich. Der Umstand, dass die Umgebung sehr fruchtbar ist, hat ihr Bekanntheit als Hend-e Kutschek (Klein-Indien) beschert.

Jiroft (Persian: جیرفت, also Romanized as Jīroft; formerly, Sabzāwārān, Sabzevārān, Sabzevārān-e Jiroft, and Sabzvārān)[2] is a city and capital of Jiroft County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 95,031, in 19,926 families.[3] It is located 230 kilometres (140 mi) south of the city of Kerman, and 1,375 kilometres (854 mi) south of Tehran along Road 91. In the past it was also called Sabzevaran, and on account of its being very fertile land it is famous as Hend-e-Koochak (the little India).The civilization found in Jiroft is one of the oldest human civilizations (according to some, the oldest) and the manuscripts obtained from this civilization are before the cuneiform discovered in Mesopotamia.
