Historically, unmarried women of this village supported themselves through prostitution, with the men of the village working as pimps.[1][2]
Efforts are underway to change this state of affairs, by such organizations as Vicharta Samuday Samarthan Manch.[1]
Vadia was known as a hub for the sex trade since before India gained independence from Britain in 1947 and most of the men work as pimps, the Times of India reported.
