The shopping area is good with some good shopping complexes and many grocery stores.

It has very good temples in and around like Ahobil Mutt and Ayyappa swamy temple. Ayyappa swamy temple is famous for its importance of ayyappa puja in the month of December and January. Ahobil Mutt is also a famous temple of Narsimhaswamy lord. It is a very popular temple for people in and around shivam temple. Ramalayam, Shiva Temple (Puttu Lingala Gudi) Shirdi Sai Baba temples.

There are many good schools and educational institutions in this area like ATI (Advanced Training Institute), Hyderabad institute of Physics (HIP). It has some famous schools like Sri Sathya Sai Vidhya Vihar High School, Narayana E Techno School, Sri Aurobindo International School (ICSE), Mother's Integral Durgabai Deshmukh Colony (DD Colony) is accessible via Shivam Road. Osmania University is adjacent to D.D. Colony and is the oldest in Hyderabad and across India.
