Die Stadt Traunreut liegt im oberbayerischen Landkreis Traunstein etwa zehn Kilometer östlich des Chiemsees und 15 km nördlich der Chiemgauer Alpen. Sie ist die zweitgrößte Stadt im Landkreis Traunstein und zugleich eine Europastadt.[2] Die Stadt Traunreut ist eine von fünf bayerischen Vertriebenenstädten und entstand erst nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Der Name bedeutet Rodung an der Traun.

Traunreut (German pronunciation: [tʁaʊ̯nˈʁɔɪ̯t] (listen); Central Bavarian: Traunreit) is a town in southeastern Bavaria, Germany in the Traunstein district. It is located at 47°58′N 12°35′E. Traunreut lies in the heart of the Chiemgau region between Munich and Salzburg, approximately 10 km east of the Chiemsee, 25 km north of the Alps, and 35 km west of Salzburg. Its population is approximately 21,000. Companies present in the area include Siteco Beleuchtungstechnik GmbH (lighting fixtures), Dr. Johannes Heidenhain GmbH (linear and rotary encoders, gaging systems, CNC controls), Bosch and Siemens Household Appliances, BSH (household equipment, high-tech stoves and microwaves), and other midsize firms.

Traunreut est une ville de la Bavière Supérieure de l'arrondissement de Traunstein. Elle se situe à environ 10 km à l'Est du Chiemsee et à 15 km au Nord des Alpes de Chiemgau. C'est la plus grosse ville de l'arrondissement. Elle fut fondée après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Son nom signifie érosion (Rodung en allemand) de la Traun.
