The village lies in a rural setting in the valley of the River Viosne, some 40 km north-west of Paris, within the Vexin Regional Nature Park. The commune is bordered by those of Ableiges, Marines, Santeuil, and Vigny. The nearest shopping centre is at Marines.
Us has a railway station on the line from Gisors to Pontoise and Paris (Gare Saint-Lazare).
“2 Swedish Girls in Paris” AKA: “Pornographie Suédoise” (original French Title) 66 min. AKA “2 Suédoises à Paris” (91 min). French actress Chantal Nora was participated in The scene at the Level crossing in Us filmed in the summer of 1975. After she left the Party of Alpha France in Avernes and on the way to her boyfriend. To hide the fact that the previous scene and the next scene were shot in the same place: at the Moulin des Champs, 95450 Avernes (6 km from Us). Note: The train from Gare Paris Saint-Lazare arrives at Gare de Us, as the train from Gisors en Vexin. So, and the movie suggests that she arrived by train at the station of Us and goes further by car.[3]
The town has a preschool. In 2016 it asked for donations to the school on Facebook.[4]
Us is located next to a village called Marines. In the surrounding area, both villages are indicated with signs showing both names listed, which reads as "US MARINES". A regular joke in the region is to make people believe that these signs indicate a nearby U.S Marine Corps base.[citation needed]
